PE Pipe, Tracer Wire Installation Method

PE Pipe, Tracer Wire Installation Method

Although PE pipes have many advantages, their disadvantages are still a lot:

First, due to its low strength, mark and trace wire damage is a common occurrence.

Second, the lost of on-site construction drawings and materials, making it difficult to locate.

Third, because the exact position of the PE pipe in the municipal construction is not clear. It is easy to cause cutting during the construction process.

Therefore, before construction, it is necessary to detect the exact location of the existing underground PE pipeline.

Then avoid underground pipelines. If you accidentally dig the underground PE pipeline, it will cause water leakage, air leakage, and even gas explosion accidents.

However, due to the non-conductive and non-magnetic properties of PE pipes. It is difficult to use the battery wave method for detection.

At present, there are mainly 4 methods for the positioning of PE pipes.

1. Surface marking method.

2. Warning tape tracer method.

3. Ground penetrating radar method.

4. Electronic marking method.

The surface marking method refers to the use of strong and pressure-resistant materials. Such as fiberglass, cement prefabrication, and cast iron. We often use gas or tap water to make signs. When detecting leaks, we only need a ground detector to inspect along the surface of the pipeline.

The warning track method is mainly to solve the problem: Detecting the position and buried depth of PE pipes on the ground. A conductive wire in the PE pipe laying construction, referred to as the tracer wire. In addition, in the installation of large-diameter PE pipes. Place a plastic warning tape with the words "there is a gas pipe below" on it. The service life of this tape is the same as that of plastic pipes. Its function is mainly to prevent the gas pipeline below from damage. And causing leakage accidents during manual or mechanical excavation construction.

The steps of ground penetration radar: The antenna emits electromagnetic waves to the ground. Generate reflected waves outside water pockets, pipes and formation lights changes. After the antenna receives the reflected wave and processes it, the radar image will display. Discrimination through recognition and interpretation of radar images.

Ground Penetrating Radar

Electronic markings are spontaneous and self-receiving devices that use electromagnetic waves of a specific frequency. During construction or after construction, the electronic marker is buried at a certain position above the pipeline. When detecting, the detector first transmits an electromagnetic wave signal of a specific frequency to the ground. Electronic markers emit a signal from the detector when approaching a marker near the pipe. Thus, the signal is detected by the detector, and the information of the underground facility is expressed through the audio frequency change and the data displayed on the screen.
